I just got to wondering about the strange person in our legislature, Leland Yee. No one could predict how he would vote. We know why, now. He was waiting for someone to pay him a satisfactory price. We will always find these types in government. They believe that their highest goal is to enrich themselves and their cronies at taxpayer expense. Think Dick Cheney, think Chris Christie. Christie was manipulating granite distributors to favor a family business. Christie thinks he a gawdfadda or something. I think the "Godfather" movies helped destroy America. No matter how cold the decision, everyone can claim that "it's just business" with impunty. Well, it's not "just business." Business is a normal and regular part of an agriculture-based society. Business is just one part of human interaction and cooperation. Business ideas are not excuses to steal from your neighbor or trick hir. Business law and practice provides a structure for a person to exchange their knowledge with others for a reasonable profit. The problem is that no one will adhere to a school of thought that grounds business transactions within a framework of human ethics. The problem is that no one will define a reasonable profit. The problem is that no one will define a reasonable profit because everyone wants to be able to profit without limit. Or something like that. The problem is that the poor have a hard time understanding the destructive power of the actions of the rich. The rich can never have enough money. Someone has a bigger yacht, off go the also-rans to get ahead of hir. The problem is that someone like Chris Christie or Leland Yee can indulge themselves in some deep dark dirty dealings and only one has been indicted. The problem is that people think that someone like Leland Yee is representative of the views of the Democratic Party as a whole. Rather, the opposite is true. Someone like Leland Yee is for sale to the highest bidder. He's not a Democrat, and he shouldn't be a Republican either. He should declare who pays his bills. Maybe wear a sash. Paul Ryan, Senator from Goldman Sachs. The problem is that the Republican Party is a parody of a party. They have set back our human evolution far more than the 60 years they have been stealing away the people's power. Meanwhile back at the ranch, the most recent update on the Leland Yee case is dated November 14, 2014. Really? Here's what they said then:
SAN FRANCISCO -- A federal judge has put the racketeering and political corruption case against suspended state Sen. Leland Yee on a fast track to trial. Doing some pre-Thanksgiving carving of the government's sprawling indictment against Yee and 28 other defendants, U.S. District Judge Charles Breyer on Wednesday set a timetable for a trial early next year that focuses solely on the political corruption charges against the disgraced Democratic legislator and a handful of cohorts linked to his alleged wrongdoing. Given that most of the defendants in the case are accused in a separate racketeering charge connected to reputed Asian organized crime figure Raymond "Shrimp Boy" Chow and his Chee Kung Tong organization, Breyer decided it would be more efficient to break off the influence-peddling part of the case. All I can say is that Leland Yee has some pretty goldarn good lawyers. In case you question my facts, I will link them within their sentences. Linking Yee's votes to donations.

In the interest of expanding market share,
New York Goldman Sachs Senator Charles Schumer proposes that we allow parents of disabled children to establish savings accounts for their disabled children's care.
Smooth move, Senator. With one blow, you hope to undermine a core tenet of a civilized society and make all of your donors billionaires...again.
The core tenet of a civilized society is: what, you ask? Here's where the rubber meets the road. Human beings, as a natural course, give birth to people who are disabled at birth. Disability is a normal human condition.
In the past, parents of disabled children had little choice about how to care for their beloved child in situations of hardship. Children were institutionalized, at best. At worst, the children were murdered or left to die of their disabilities.
The care of a child necessarily continues into hir adulthood. If we end social support for the parents of disabled children, we already know that some outcomes follow. Among these are: 1) the exposure of children after birth, 2) negligent or reckless care of the disabled child, 3) emotional, physical, and sexual abuse of the disabled child, 4) economic exploitation, 5) medical neglect, 6) emotional neglect, 7) falling birthrates 8) emotional harm to siblings.
Families of disabled children deserve our utmost support for all of these reasons and more. Is the "Honorable" Charles Schumer advocating that we abandon this social compact? That's a bad thing.
Another really bad idea is handing the management of these funds to the private sector for their economic enrichment.
This cost is one that we as the richest country on earth (more or less) can easily bear. It is a risk that we all share because we are human. Spreading it out via reasonable taxation isn't much to ask to retain a civilized and humane society.
2. "expanding market share" is a euphemism for the constant need for growth endemic to capitalism. It's like an incurable disease in that way. A better option is the Steady State Economy. Learn more at http://steadystate.org/ or http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steady_state_economy.
New Jersey Tax Preparer Gets 18-Month Sentence from ACCOUNTING TODAY, August 6, 2014
“Return preparer fraud is like a contagious disease,” said Jonathan D. Larsen, acting special agent in charge of IRS Criminal Investigation’s Newark Field Office, in a statement. “It affects not only the preparer, but the individuals who have filed false information with the Internal Revenue Service. It is our hope that today’s sentence sends the message that tampering with the integrity of our nation’s tax system will result in jail time.”Our job, as your tax practitioner, is to assist you in presenting a reasonable tax position to the IRS. The IRS rules are generous and leave much leeway for the average person to make rational estimates when modest amounts of documentation have gone missing. But when practitioners get into the habit of inflating expenses, trouble often ensues. Ask us how to help you through this complicated issue. ~D. Lagutaris The owner of a New Jersey business has been sentenced to a year and a half in prison for willfully preparing false tax returns for clients. U.S. District Judge Claire C. Cecchi also ordered Sean Gunby Sr., 45, the owner of Gunby Consulting in Clifton, N.J., to serve one year of supervised release and pay $84,559 in restitution to the Internal Revenue Service. Gunby pleaded guilty last December to charges of aiding and assisting in the preparation of false tax returns. For tax years 2006 through 2010, Gunby admitted that he prepared false tax returns for clients by fabricating and inflating certain expenses, deductions and credits on Schedules A, C, D and E of his clients’ tax returns. The total amount of tax the IRS was defrauded as a result is estimated at around $84,559.
